Open Mindedness

Open-mindedness.

It’s not a value that often gets talked about but it’s probably my most revered value.

It helps me in seeing and understanding that ay outcome is possibility and I can use my imagination to create open ended possibilities.

It also helps me when listening to the everyday expert around me.

I read an abundance of self-help books and I learn lessons in each of them because I approach each and everyone with the belief that they are the best thing I will learn.

I don’t approach anyone with any hint of cynicism and this allows me to see the greatness in everybody.

Some people call this naivety but I would rather look for the good in others and help them find their own answers without any judgement on my part.

I am not the master of your life. I can help facilitate your life through questions, a genuine interest and an open-mindedness that you will find the answers you seek, particularly if you’re asked the right questions to get there.

I can help you change your outlook to that of opportunity while still living in your world, all it takes is an open mind.

Loneliness Awareness Week

This week is #lonelinessawarenessweek and although the chap in this picture covering his face doesn’t look the most welcoming as you can’t see his smile, written all over the face covering is ‘Hello’.

I attended the Campaign to End Loneliness conference a couple of years ago and got to listen to Dr Vivek Murthy talk about the impact of loneliness in this world.

It is properly scary how being lonely can adversely affect our mental and physical health.

The last 12 weeks of lockdown in the UK has caused many people to feel lonely, some for maybe the first time.

In England it is recommended that people wear face coverings for public transport and a similar plan is being introduced in Wales, albeit with triple layered masks as a recommendation.

The ‘Hello’ range will be rolled out this week to encourage people to talk to each other from behind the masks. Let’s make an effort to keep engaged with our neighbours in our communities.

If you’re having difficulty knowing how to start just pick up the phone and reach out to anyone, even if it feels clunky or awkward.

If you need a helping hand or are struggling with feelings or loneliness reach out.

Love, Don’t Hate

I strongly believe that we are all created equal.

That we each have skills in abundance and compliment each other on this planet.

We don’t have the same skills to the same levels and we live our own intricate, delicate, special lives that makes being here all the more extraordinary.

We are not here to hate.

If there is hate or anger, there is something underneath that causes bad feelings to come out of your mouth. This is not the fault of the individual.

We all have a responsibility to lift each other up and out of hate. The biggest responsibility resting on our own shoulders to lift ourselves out of hate.

When we recognise pain that we are causing we say sorry and we change our actions.

To some, this means changing a whole lifetime of oppressed feelings and hurt.

But it’s worth it. Not just for those around you, but for you as an individual.

Love yourself and every good and bad thing that has happened to you. You are a remarkable human being just as you.

You are extraordinary.
