Bill Carne OBE

Thinking back at my time at the Sport Pembrokeshire awards in November and getting to interview the master, Bill Carne OBE as he hosted his last award ceremony after 17 years (every single one).

I’ve known Bill since producing and contributing the Pure West Sports Show on Pure Weather Radio, on occasion, hosting it too.

Along with the other presenters, Ben Stone, Fraser Watson and Gordon Thomas, I have learnt so much from Bill. About the depth and quality of sport in Pembrokeshire, about reigniting my own passion of sport and keeping active and just how close knit the sporting community, and the communities they serve are.

Wit, memory and and a genuine interest in people, that’s what you need to be a writer, a broadcaster. I count myself lucky every time I look through my phone and see the people I’m learning from and the people I’m talking with.

I’m looking forward to meeting more inspiration people through the radio and if you want a Pembrokeshire dose of sport, be sure to tune into the Pure West Sports Show with Eaton-Evans & Morris Solicitors every Monday evening from 7pm

That time I met Max Boyce in Victoria Bookshop in Haverfordwest while he was singing some books.

I still haven’t got round to reading it, had a few scripts to learn, but it is next on the list.

He was so gracious with his time chatting to us and even played along in providing my mate with arguably the best Christmas present he’s ever received.

I’ve sheet met Dafydd Iwan too, who else is a living Welsh legend I can bump into?
